The Biden-Harris administration has now released several executive orders related to racial equity, calling on all of government to plan and execute actions in service of racial equity.The latest of these executive orders, Further Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities through the Federal Government, released in February 2023, offers more guidance on the administration’s goals of embedding equity in government-wide processes, including the creation of annual equity action plans. Over the past months the Urban Institute has analyzed 24 federal-agency equity action plans generated in response to the administration’s Executive Order on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities through the Federal Government, released in January 2021.
