HSP/HA.2/9-Midterm evaluation of the implementation of the strategic plan for the period 2020–2023

However, the importance of aligning the cycle of the strategic plan with the four-year cycle of the United Nations Habitat Assembly of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat Assembly) was subsequently recognized and, at its first session, in May 2019, in resolution 1/1, the UN-Habitat Assembly approved the strategic plan for the period 2020–2023 instead of the period 2020−2025. [...] Subsequently, at its second session of 2021, in part (d), on the alignment of the quadrennial comprehensive policy review with the planning cycles of UN-Habitat, of decision 2021/6, on the work programme and budget, implementation of the strategic plan for the period 2020–2023, and alignment of the planning cycles of the Programme with the quadrennial comprehensive policy review process, the Execu. [...] During the second session of 2022 of the Executive Board, the Annual Report 2021, on the implementation of the strategic plan, was presented and the Board was informed that UN-Habitat would conduct the midterm evaluation of the strategic plan in the first quarter of 2023. [...] Accordingly, the evaluation of the strategic plan will take place immediately after the second session of the UN-Habitat Assembly, at which the Assembly will consider for possible approval the extension up to 2025 of the current strategic plan for the period 2020–2023. [...] However, the United Nations Habitat Assembly recognized the importance of aligning the cycle of the strategic plan with the four-year cycle of the United Nations Habitat Assembly and with the move by other UN entities to adopt four-year planning cycles and consequently, in resolution HSP/HA/1/L.4, approved the Strategic Plan for the period 2020-2023, instead of 2020-2025 at its first session of Ma.
