The tenure of the elected members of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee will conclude on 31 March 2019. [...] A collaborative effort with the North Eastern Council and Department of North Eastern Region (DoNER), the Festival presented the culture, creative arts and cuisine in a manner that moved beyond the conventional representation of the region by focusing on the idea of continuity of traditions and their intersections with the contemporary. [...] China signalled its ambitions quite early in the Indian Ocean Region and the advent of the Belt and Road Initiative, the process of acquiring overseas bases, and viewing the South China Sea as a strategic backwater is the manifestation of their ambitions.
