[...] Madhya Pradesh Festival The Government of Madhya Pradesh and the IIC organized a festival, ‘FROM THE VERY HEART OF INDIA’, from the 24th to 27th of May to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state. [...] The exhibition extended the boundaries of what is known of these encounters through the use of contemporary photographs that illustrated the afterlife and ‘memorialisation’ of the main centres of Delhi, Lucknow and Kanpur. [...] Written by distinguished authors and commentators from the seven states of the North East the book seeks to quantify and address the schisms not merely between the Centre and the North-east, but within the seven states as well, perspectives that deal with more than just the political analysis of the region. [...] The recommendations of the conference will have far-reaching effects on the future programme of inter-linking the demands of the cultural sector and the educational sector within the UNESCO programmes.
