As ofM  ay 2020, the internationally recognized government of Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi controls the central district of Marib and the eastern provinces, the south is controlled by the STC, and the Houthis continue to control much of the north, including the capital Sanaa. [...] Of the armed groups in Yemen, the 2013 YPC poll ranked the Houthis as the most disruptive to the country’s security, followed by AQAP. [...] Following the capture of the city, the Houthis announced the dissolution of the parliament and the formation of a new government in Sanaa. [...] In April 2020, the Saudi-led coalition announced a unilateral ceasefire to help the Yemeni government tackle the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic as the country recorded its first cases of the virus. [...] According to the movement’s Supreme Political Council, international calls to extend the truce “affect the sovereignty, security and stability of Yemen” and were the reason behind the group’s decision to not renew the ceasefire.
