[...] Proficiency in numeracy The Survey of Adult Skills defines numeracy as the ability to access, use, interpret and communicate mathematical information and ideas in order to engage in and manage the mathematical demands of a range of situations in adult life (OECD, 2019[3]). [...] The assessment of reading components was taken by respondents who failed the literacy and numeracy core assessment in the computer-based version of the assessment, and by all respondents taking the paper version of the assessment. [...] Those failing the core test in these countries also correctly answered more than 82% of the items in the sentence-processing elements of the reading components assessment, 83% of the passage- comprehension items and 95% of the print-vocabulary items.
