Nine of the top 10 pathway changes bachelor’s degree pathway offers the greatest have the potential to put more men in good jobs potential for increasing the number of young than women, and one could reduce the number adults in good jobs. [...] We also explore the potential society-wide impacts of the pathway changes in terms of the total number of additional young adults who might attain a good job if the pathway changes were implemented at scale.19 We find that, if taken to scale, these pathway changes could have a substantial impact on the number of young adults in good jobs. [...] 22 What Works: Ten Education, Training, and Work-Based Pathway Changes That Lead to Good Jobs Differences by gender: ⟐ For women, entering a bachelor’s degree program by age 22 is associated with a 14-percentage- point increase in the likelihood of having a good job, and 2.4 million young women in the current cohort are eligible to enroll in a bachelor’s degree program by age 22. [...] In the absence of affirmative action in the form of targeted interventions, taking the pathway changes to scale could slightly reduce the class-based gap in the likelihood of having a good job at age 30, but would in most cases increase the racial/ethnic- and gender-based gaps in good jobs. [...] 38 In each pathway change, the potential number of additional young adults in a good job may not equal the product of the number of eligible young adults and the change in likelihood of having a good job.
