[...] In the decade that followed, AU PCRD efforts took various forms, including the implementation of quick impact projects (QIPs) and peace strengthening projects (PSPs), the development of stabilization strategies for both the Sahel and the Lake Chad Basin, supporting the establishment of state institutions (constitutional, rule of law, human rights bodies), as well as the implementation of programs. [...] Despite these efforts, however, the Peace and Security Council (PSC) in its 670th session of March 2017 highlighted that the PCRD dimension remains the “weakest link” in the implementation of both the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) and the African Governance Architecture (AGA). [...] Objectives: The workshop aims to take stock of progress achieved in the review of the AU PCRD policy, identify and address existing gaps, with a particular focus on alignment of the AU policy frameworks, including those related to the African Governance Architecture (AGA), the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), and the AU Climate Change and Resilient Development Strategy and Action Pl. [...] Additionally, the review of the Strategy is expected to clearly outline the central role of the recently launched AU Centre for PCRD in its implementation, particularly with regard to coordinating efforts, and should underscore the necessity of building the Centre’s capacities.
