8 // UNAA ANNUAL REPORT 2021/2022 UNAA ANNUAL REPORT 2021/2022 // 9 OUR WORK – NATIONAL PROGRAMS OUR PATRONS Our Patrons, His Excellency the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) and Lady Hurley continued their valued support for our work this year and on UN Day extended their appreciation of the work of the UN, and the work of the leaders, members and volunteers of the UNAA I am pleased to join. [...] He shared the Forum Communique and Report and subsequently met with policy staff in the offices of Zed Seselja, Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Senator Christina Keneally and Senator Penny Wong and directly with Zali Stegall MP for Warringah, Senator Janet Rice, Greens spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Senator Mehreen Faruqi to explore the value of the Sustainable Develo. [...] The 2021 guest speaker was Leanne Smith, international human rights lawyer with experience in the Human Rights Commission, and now the Chief Executive of the Commission, as an Australian diplomat and in a range of positions in the United Nations, most recently as Chief of Policy and Best Practices for UN Peacekeeping Operations. [...] The handbook provides information and advice for private and community sector, government and academic organisations, including: • Organisations unfamiliar with the SDGs and unsure where to start • Companies which have been aligning to the SDGs but looking to learn more, do things • differently and tap into the experiences and insights of others • SDG leaders who are committed to the Goals and lea.
