Summary

In addition to providing the platform for enhancing the capacities of seaweed primary producers by exposing them to innovative and effective technologies, some of the successes driving the ZaSCI is the cordial relationship between the farmers and scientists towards removing the barriers of superiority attitude and information asymmetry between the cluster actors. [...] In view of this, and over the years, there exists relevant coastal and marine resources management policies, legislation and regulations that are applicable to the seaweed industry in Zanzibar.15 One of the most recent and relevant policies is the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar Fisheries Policy (see the Box 13 below).
