To ensure adequate protection of children (at risk of) going missing in the context of the war in Ukraine, MCE calls on the all the relevant national and international actors to: • improve registration, information management and referral mechanisms, and monitoring of children entering the EU from Ukraine; • ensure respect and fulfilment of the provisions set out in the Fourth Geneva Convention; •. [...] Application of the Hague Convention 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction Following the legal framework on international child abductions, the fathers were counselled to submit an application to the Central Authority in Ukraine, which sits within the Ministry of Justice, to ensure the exercise of their right to access to the child, in accordance with the Hague Convention on Ci. [...] This case is an illustration of the broader question of returns to Ukraine under the 1980 Hague Convention and whether such returns are possible, and in the best interests of the child, to the more peaceful parts of Ukraine. [...] Registration of unaccompanied and separated children from Ukraine arriving in the EU should normally happen at three different moments: at the moment of crossing the border into the Schengen zone in one of the neighbouring countries of Ukraine; registration with the national child protection authorities in the new country of residence; and registration for temporary protection in the new country o. [...] This helped to identify the needs of children, allowing the foundation to contribute to the development of the police guidelines on the national and international level.
