Tatjana Hema welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of the integrated CORMON in the process of the elaboration of the 2023 MED QSR. [...] She brought to the attention of the Meeting the necessity to finalize and endorse the thematic assessments reports to be used for the finalization of the 2023 MED QSR, and the submission by the Secretariat of GFCM of the assessment report of EO3. [...] The Rules of Procedure for Meetings and Conferences of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean and its Protocols was applied mutatis mutandis to the present Meeting (UNEP/IG.43/6, Annex XI. [...] In response to a comment raised by a representative of a Contracting Party, the SPA/RAC representative informed the Meeting that SPA/RAC will align the 2023 MED QSR assessment for the Mediterranean monk seal (EO1) with the recent information on the monk seal from the Mid-term evaluation of the Mediterranean strategy for the conservation of the monk seal.
