Catalogue of Civil Society Activities Supporting the Chemical Weapons Convention

The catalogue highlights for all interested parties, including the CWC States Parties, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction, international organizations, and industry stakeholders, civil societyʼs contributions to strengthen reducing the threat of chemical weapons and promoting the pe. [...] The Academy constantly collaborates with the OPCW and provides technical support to the Italian National Authority at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the implementation of the CWC. [...] Progress with the CWC will however require careful preparation both in terms of the development of substantive inputs and ideas, but also raising awareness and understanding of the CWC and the Review Conference process. [...] The Stimson Center seeks to help increase the relatively low levels of implementation of national measures to secure chemical weapons related materials in support of the objectives of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and the obligations of UNSCR 1540. [...] Costanzi is a member of several international organizations that work at the intersection of science and policy to combat the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons, including the International Center for Chemical Safety and Security Global team, the Scientists Working Group on Biological and Chemical Security, and the Chemical Weapons Convention Coalition.
