Recent geopolitical realignments have created a state of uncertainty in the global economy. Supply chain disruptions, which began with the COVID-19 pandemic, have worsened following the conflict in Ukraine and are threatening global economic security. Further, the US-China trade conflict has highlighted the vulnerability of the global economy due to overreliance on a small number of countries for the supply of critical raw materials, components, and products across sectors. The politics of high-technology trade, which has led to recent export curbs by China, are also a part of this continued uncertainty. This report discusses the role of the ESDM sector in India as it is not only a strategic sector but also the sector with tremendous growth potential.
