[...] 22 The fiscal space in the Western Balkans - Evidence from the recent multilayer crisis 3.2 METHODOLOGY AND DATA The objective of the analysis is to understand if fiscal space in the WB6 before crisis struck played important role for the fiscal stimuli that governments used as weapons to combat the contraction of the economy caused by the crisis. [...] Moreover, the calculation properly finds that the two top ranked years over the period 2003-2022 based on the amount of the fiscal stimulus are clearly the pandemic year of 2020, and either the hardest-hit year of the Global Financial Crisis (2008-2010), or of the European Sovereign Crisis (2011-2013).
