The creation of the International Network on Conflict and Fragility in 2008 and the World Development Report (WDR) in 2011 unpacked Security-Development Nexus and the Securitization of Development in Africa 5 the link between security and development and recommended implementing strategies related to this nexus. [...] In the African context, the consequences of the security-development nexus can vary, depending on the specific context and the nature of the regional security and development challenges. [...] The Lagos Plan of Action and the Alternative Framework to Structural Adjustment Programmes (AF-SAP), the signing of the Abuja Treaty in 1990, the establishment of the African Economic Community and more recently the adoption of Agenda 2063 have become significant roadmaps for shaping the continent’s development agenda.1 But in spite of all these frameworks, Africa’s development process has remaine. [...] These include3: • The “Monrovia Declaration of Commitment of the Heads of State and Government of the OAU on the guidelines and measures for national and collective self-reliance in economic and social development for the establishment of a new international economic order” (1979); • The Lagos Plan of Action for the Economic Development of Africa, 1980-2000 and the Final Act of Lagos (1980); • Afr. [...] The decline of the Soviet Union and as Francis Fukuyama proclaimed, the ‘End of History’8 marked the triumph of the Western development model, marked the beginning of a significant period in Africa’s development.
