Cuba, Angola and the West

27 Nov 1978

Developments in Angola are likely to have an impact not only on South West Africa but also on changing foreign policy perceptions of both East and West towards Southern African problems. Any discussion on Angola must take cognizance of the role played by Cuba, the changing attitude of the west towards Angola and the mutating nature of the revolution in Angola itself. This is then the background for the paper where the Cuban influence in Angola is depicted and how this fueled the revolution in Angola. The changing circumstances in Angola also influenced the U S international policies on Cuba and Angola. It is therefore the aim of the US to involve Angola in the Western sponsored strategy to achieve peace in Southern Africa.
