The Educational Policy and Planning (EPP) Project assists the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (MOEC) in establishing an information system to improve policy analysis and formulation. There are five elements of the project strategy: increase the ability of MOEC staff to create and use information for use in policy research, strengthen the internal management and organization of the Office of Educational and Cultural Research and Development, support research and analysis, expand capacity to conduct policy research and analysis, and develop planning and information systems at provincial and district levels. The EPP and the Improving the Efficiency of Educational Systems (IEES) project are assisting the MOEC enter its second 25-year planning period. This report covers several areas of the involvement of the EPP and IEES in developing the Indonesian education system. Subjects covered in the report include an overview of the EPP; the partnership of the IEES and the EPP; developing an integrated management information system; the quality of basic education; the quality and efficiency of vocational/technical education; strengthening local education capacity; educational indicators for policy purposes; teacher education; curriculum reform; developing provincial sector review capacity; and education, the economy, and development.
