The five bird species selected for the study are the endemic Tanimbar corella, the palm cockatoo, the salmon-crested cockatoo and the yellow-crested cockatoo – all of which are listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) and are challenging to breed in large quantities in closed environments – as well as the non-endemic Africa.
