This study takes a closer look at trade in used li-ion batteries, as a part of analysing how international trade can contribute to sustainable development.
These batteries play a vital role in the electrification of transportation and the expansion of renewable energy. We identify and detail key barriers to trade in used li-ion batteries. We also present several recommendations for policymakers interested in promoting a circular economy, and trade in used goods.
