Ethiopia, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, is a landlocked country in the Horn of Africa. It shares borders with Eritrea to the north, Djibouti to the northeast, Somalia to the east and northeast, Kenya to the south, South Sudan to the west, and Sudan to the northwest. Ethiopia has a total area of 1,100,000 square kilometres (420,000 sq mi).

the status, level and determinants of financial inclusion and barriers to financial inclusion in Ethiopia are analysed. We found that better education, financial literacy, gender, age, living in an urban associated with a greater level of financial inclusion in Ethiopia. Furthermore, we found that involuntary and voluntary exclusion are higher in Ethiopia. We recommend policies that could narrow down gender gender, religious, and urban-rural gaps and foster financial inclusion in Ethiopia.
